Re: Where to buy seat upholstery
I don't know how far you are going with your upholstery project, but if you want totally original OEM I don't think you will find an exact match. You can get close with cloth but not vinyl. I would check with your local upholstery shop because they should have access to suppliers who can supply anything available on the market. If you need exact factory original seat foam it will be very expensive, but your local shop can install/modify seat foam with more dense and thicker seat foam for longer life.
If I had to do my seat again, I would get late model 60/40 seats from a junkyard for about $250. I like integral seat belt ones like 2000-2006(?) Silverado/Sierra or 97-? Chrysler Sebring convertible. Even if you have to recover/rebuild those junkyard seats they will be cheaper than restoring your original seat and be much better seats, especially with the integral seat belts. |

Well I was hoping this would have been an easy fix, since the foam is still intact, just the actual cover that may have dry rotted and torn. I kinda was liking this old seat since it reminds me of the seats in a 63-64 Impala. The only other option I'd consider is going with low back bucket seats to be honest. While I like a well flowing transplanted seat, it doesn't fit with what I have planned for this truck. |

Re: Where to buy seat upholstery
Regarding the seat foam, your local upholstery shop can restore it to better than new with denser foam and you won't be able to tell the difference from factory new. You will want to do this because stock foam is not very durable, especially if you are a plus size guy like me This should not cost you more than $100, probably less, since they do this all the time for all kinds of seats. If you find the exact OEM seat cover you will have to keep the foam at the same thickness, just denser foam - unless you can get the vinyl bulk. I had about 1" in height added to mine and it is already compressed just a bit after two years, and it is dense foam.
I get your attraction to the stock look, but if this is your daily driver I would still consider late model seats. Non-ergonomic design, no functional headrests, lack of integral center armrest and seat belts are not my idea of a good seat. Why not get a late model seat and keep your old seat - take your time getting your old seat restored properly and install it when you drive your truck during the July 4th parade If you restore your stock seat, here is a tip I used on my 77 seat. Go to the hardware store and get a old style wooden screen door turn buckle style tensioner. Hook the ends of the links and adjust the turn buckle to the correct length and install in place of the stock wire. You can fine tune the correct adjustment and there is no sag in the tensioner like the stock wire - nothing to hook/catch on things you store under the seat. Works like a charm. These are exactly the correct length and require no cutting , at least the one I got did - truly amazing. Amazon.com: National Hardware V195 Screen/Storm... |

Re: Where to buy seat upholstery
I know this is an old thread, but rather than start a new one I'm bumping this one up. I have the same style seat, and it has only recently developed cracks on the drivers side. I have really grown accustomed to that style and would like to find a similar replacement. It doesn't have to be exact, but has anyone found something similar? Even a custom job done with a patterned vinyl?
What I have now Like I said, it doesn't have to be exactly the same, but I don't think I would be happy with one of the solid color replacements out there. I would be satisfied with another patterned cover that is close in color, with the solid area to break it up.

Re: Where to buy seat upholstery
All I see from them are solid color vinyl, no patterned vinyl.

Re: Where to buy seat upholstery
Well shoot I'm sorry, I don't think anyone makes the OEM style. Take it to a textile shop and see if they can match the pattern, then they can make the cover for you?

Re: Where to buy seat upholstery
SMS is amazing. They had the upholstery for my '60 GMC. But be willing to shell out some $$$ for it.
