Backup light stays on
I've got an 81 shortwide with a 454/th400 and the backup light on the driver's side wants to stay on when the key is in the run position even in neutral. I saw another truck at a stoplight last week with the same problem. Is there just a loose connection?

Re: Backup light stays on
I would check the neutral safety/reverse light switch, wire harness along frame for damage, and possible botched trailer light wire job.

Agreed, trailer wire jobs are a pain. I just put mine to the side for now because there are so many wires cut/spliced everywhere, I don't wanna touch it for fear of screwing something up.

Re: Backup light stays on
It probably has something jammed it the switch. That's where I would start at least.
