Power brake conversion question
New to the website, I love it so far.
I have a 77 C10 2wd that did not come with power brakes from the factory. Picked up a booster and master cylinder from a guy parting out a 78. I bolted it on yesterday and the only problem I ran into was I had to swap the brake lines going into the master cylinder. In other words the front one on my old non-power master clyinder is now going to the rear of the new power brake master cylinder and vice versa. My question is, will this affect the braking? Thanks |

Re: Power brake conversion question
Shouldn't be an issue. Safer route would be getting new lines, a flaring tool and a tubing bender and cutter and make new ones to fit but that's just what I'd do.

Re: Power brake conversion question
Match it too the way the 78 master cylinder was, bending line as needed. DO NOT reverse the lines. The fitting sizes should be different front and rear anyway.

Re: Power brake conversion question
I can not tell how the 78 was plumbed, the unit was pulled from the truck before I got there. What was my orginal rear line will only thread into the front port of the newer m/c and what was my original front line will only thread into the rear port.

Re: Power brake conversion question
They are diff sizes just bend them to the correct postions do not kink them and do not reverse them some times there the same size if reversed your drums will actuate b4 the disks will and braking will be eraddic
