Gas milage for a 216 or 235 in a 53 pickup
I'm trying to find out the gas milage on these two motors in a 53 chevy truck under normal driving conditions of 20 MPH in neighborhoods to 55 MPH on the road.
Thanks, Brian

Re: Gas milage for a 216 or 235 in a 53 pickup
That is such a small difference in displacement that the health of the engine and cleanliness of the carb/jetting probably would make any difference in MPG not worth considering...

Re: Gas milage for a 216 or 235 in a 53 pickup
I ment what's the average gas milage for the truck. Not the difference in neighborhood driving and highway driving. What's the all around gas milage on the stock motors in a 53?
Sorry for the confusion. Posted via Mobile Device

I dunno, but I do know that 55 is real fast for one of these trucks.

Re: Gas milage for a 216 or 235 in a 53 pickup
My truck (50 with a 58-62 235) does 55mph no problem, I have seen 64 on the GPS before. I think it would do more if the carb was actually working right (need to run it with 1/2 choke).
Next time I fill up I hope to have a rough idea on miles so I can calculate fuel economy. |

from what I've read, you'll be looking at around 14-16mpg, less if you're towing or have a lead foot
