Clunkung from right front Mustang II front end
My truck has a clunking sound comming from the front end passenger side. I notice it when I release the brakes. It looks like the fender is dropping down at the time of the clunk. Any ideas on where to start? I have 325 miles on it. It has all new bushings, springs and shocks and uses Chevy rotors and brakes on the mustang spindle.

I would NOT drive it until you replaced or tightened the problem>
. Place a jack under the shock and take the weight off the wheel and try and move things around, look at all the connections, including the upper shock bolt

Re: Clunkung from right front Mustang II front end
I found the problem. I jacked up the truck and began checking the bolts from top to bottom. I noticed the upper A frame "hat" was shiny from the upper A arm rubbing back and forth on it. I tightened the top bolts which were very loose and worked my way down. I used a torque wrench as some of those bolts need to be tightened to 120 ft. lbs. Anyway I did both sides and got everything tight. I just road tested it and the clunk is GONE. Thanks to all of you who responded, it was good information. And yes the strut rod bolts were loose also. Thanks again.

I like to use mechanical lock nuts instead of lock-tite. Lock-tite can melt with the heat the brakes generate.

Re: Clunkung from right front Mustang II front end
Thanks Parkwood. I plan on doing that next week. I found a guy who has an alignment shop and also has a shop at his house. He told me to come over to his house shop where he can spend more time and get everything alined and torqued.
