Looking for quality Pictures.

Hello,
I am new to the forum. Just bought a 72chevy long bed 2wd with ac. This is my 14 year old son's truck. The bed has been sandblasted, new cab floor panels, cab corners, rockers, motor, frame painted. Everything is stripped off it and I have many new parts. We will want to paint it 2 tone with white between the upper and lower body moldings and on the upper cab.
We are looking for a variety of quality pictures to help us determine the factory color scheme we want to use.
Also our truck has a 1969 front clip with mint 1969 bumper and grill. I have recently picked up a new 71/72 OEM inner grill and new front bumper. Our desire is to put 72 grill and bumper back on the truck. Will the 1969 front clip accommodate the 1972 grill or will I also need to change fenders? Besides the 1972 outer grill and blinkers what else will I need to find to make this transition possible?
Thanks in advance for your replies and help!

Re: Looking for quality Pictures.

Are the blinker assemblies from the 69 grill the same as the 71/72 that go in the bumper?

No they are different, and if you want factory appearance you will need a different wiring harness I think.

Hello and welcome to the board.

It's always nice to see a father/son project. You should create a build thread; I hope to rebuild one with my boy when he reaches that age.

If memory serves me correct as long as you have the 72 center support, 72 hood latch (because the grill is different) 72 grille, 72 bumper brackets & bumper. (The marker lights are in the bumper on the 72) you should have everything. I believe you only need to swap fenders if you’re swapping hoods.

I would start in the gallery for pics and just search the board, you will find ton’s of photos. Maybe not the highest quality photos, but a good start for ideas.

Re: Looking for quality Pictures.

So I need: center support, hood latch, grille, bumper brackets, and blinker assembly? Is the 69 hood different than the 72?

Yes, it is shaped different.

The hood in my avatar is a 72, very flat. the 69 slopes back.

Wow I thought the hoods were the same because LMC lists hood 67-68 as one part# and 69-72 as one part number. I didn't think the hood was a problem. The only think I thought I had to do was fix the holes in the hood from the bowtie.

69-72 hoods are the same. 67-68 hoods slope back. The 69 front clip will accomodate the 71-72 grille

Re: Looking for quality Pictures.

No 69 and 72 hoods are the same the only thing that is different is the emblem is not on the hood in 72 but is in 69.... Also the latch is the same but the center support is different

I thought the latch was different because the egg crate grill came out in 71 and it's harder to open the hood with the old grill latch.

Re: Looking for quality Pictures.

The color that really trips my trigger and will be put on my 70 that I will put a 72 grill in, is hugger orange with white. Those in my mind are the 71-72 chevy truck. All of the other have my respect as well but that one is tops in my mind. Jim
