Remote Mount Manual Shifter

I saw this today in a mid '60's Mustang at a car show. Interesting I thought, allows a shifter to be located wherever it fits best, ergonomically, and then it attaches to the original shifter.

New one on me. Kind of cool I thought. http://www.mustangsplus.com/tech/spe...ter/index.html

Set-up is for a T-5 tranny, thought maybe this would be food for thought for those of you doin' a T-5 swap.

Kind of like a moped, fun to ride but ya don't want anyone to see ya using it... Seems he could have just used an angled stick. That's just wacky - new one on me too Lakeroadster.

I actually never thought I would own one, but it was free. I couldn't say no. I've only ridden it twice and that was up the road and back. Plus it's a real wheelie machine!!!

Back on topic though, I saw a shifter like that on an old Willys gasser a few years ago, but it was moved half way to the back seat.

That would be an interesting modification if you had a camaro/firebird 5spd. Since it has a tail mounted shifter you could get that set up and it may be hidden under the seat then. .....Not sure, but floor hump may be in the way tho.

Re: Remote Mount Manual Shifter

my buddy years ago pulled his old granny gear trans and replace with a t-10 in his 68 p/u and used the shifter from his old trans and modified it to bolt to the floor and clear the bench seat with a shaft connecting to a hurst shifter that he cut off under the seat. at the time we laughed like crazy at his idea, but it worked really well and didnt look half bad,who would ever know i would see this once again and being patented and sold to the masses. i guess hindsight is 20/20

Hey, that's a GOOD point! Could maybe use it in the reverse of the pic above.... Hmmm. Probably cheaper than an S10 tailhousing these days!
