Power steering leak!! cannot find part?
I cant seem to find the metal return line that threads into the steering box. called everywhere. replaced the high pressure line this morning now the low pressure return line is leaking at the fitting.
Anybody know where to find this part? or how to make a flair like that? truck is a 85 chevy shorty 1/2 ton 4x4 |

Re: Power steering leak!! cannot find part?
I would call a NAPA store if you have one in your area. If they don't have the part they can tell you who in your area has one. I would not be surprised if you can get a hose made up by a local shop that makes custom hydraulic hoses, like for forklifts, etc., if you are desperate.
When I replaced my box with a rebuild from AutoZone I got both lines from AutoZone and I don't remember having any problems with the installation. Looks like they have them but maybe not in stock at your store. My first choice would be to go with an online OEM vendor and wait. I would stay away from the junkyard on this one since old rubber parts are not a good choice, IMO. |

I believe that your truck uses an o-ring type fitting. I know that my 77 uses a non o-ring type connection that is different than what was used in the 80s.

Re: Power steering leak!! cannot find part?
most likely for something like that is a junkyard. if you dont have a local yard, there are junkyard networks in the net who can find it and ship it to you.

Re: Power steering leak!! cannot find part?
As I said before, go to www.rockauto.com. The lines are pre-bent and fit perfectly.
