Question Shift Indicator for 67-70 Non-Tilt: Will the 71-72 Work?

Looking to replace my worn shift indicator and housing. Since there are no reproductions for the housing and the lens available for the 67-70 non-tilt columns I was thinking of using the entire set-up for a 71-72. Does anyone know if these parts are a direct bolt?

After my OP I continued searching and did find a post where a gentleman said that the fit was odd... he said there was a gap because the contour of the parts was different. Any experience with this?

Also, on the ClassicParts web site it is noted that the parts won't work?

hmmm, odd. I had a tall 71/72 style in my old C/20 '70 longhorn. Granted, the truck was scrapped 11 years ago, but I don't recall it not fitting properly.

Re: Shift Indicator for 67-70 Non-Tilt: Will the 71-72 Work?

I think what I was reading on the Classic Parts site was the fact that the new indicator lens (only the lens) will not work with the earlier models housing. There is nothing stating that the entire indicator and pointer can't be changed.
Just wanted to make that clear.
I went ahead and ordered up the parts. I will post up a pick once they are installed.

that makes sence... the lens would be way too tall for the older style lens.
