Bed Front Question?????

I have a 66 stepside and need the bed front. I was able to locate someone local that has a bed front for a fleet side.

My question is, would this work or could it be modified to work? I'm thinking it is probably wider then the stepside front.......

Re: Bed Front Question?????

It is much wider. It could be cut down in a pinch but the relief that is stamped in it would pose a problem.

Thanks.. That is what I pictured in my mind as I have not seen either in person. I located three 64-66 trucks in a junk yard but they are now burried in six feet of weeds and being Florida, there are all kinds of critters living around there. I guess I need to bring the weedeater and wasp spray and go get the parts I need.

Thanks for the help, I need to start a build thread. I have been working on this truck the past seven months and have taken lots of pictures along the way...

Re: Bed Front Question?????

When I was building mine I started working on the front panel and with just a phone call I was done. The panel looks great! Got it from Chevy Duty, now Classic parts. Some times it easier to buy new than to fix junk. Still have the old panel 25 years later.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to get the time off for a roadtrip to Florida! I have a real nifty torch that runs of a 20# propane cylinder...

I think I might try to go tomorrow and get what I need. I will take some photos of the trucks there. Its a small classic car and truck junk yard that no one really knows much about. They deal more in scrap metal and the son like to run the junk yard..

Re: Bed Front Question?????

Go with MAR-K. I bought one for my fleetside and it is better than original, heavy duty, fits great. It is the only body panel I have bought aftermarket that I have been happy with.

Re: Bed Front Question?????

Thanks for the links. I found another guy today that says he has two trucks on his property that are pretty much all complete. In his word there is some rust but not bad at all. He is clearing the land and doesn't want the trucks. One is a fleet and the other a step side. He said come take bother truck for $400 dollars because that is what the scrap yard is going to give him. It's pretty said because I have end room for them. I hope to go there tomorrow and check them out and maybe get some parts I need. I will try and get pictures and post them.
