Anyone make their own hot tank

Hey guys I'm in need of cleaning my engine and I was wondering if anyone had made their own hot tank and if so how....thanks

I made a small one, 85 quarts, from a stainless crab boil pot and a water heater stand. Then put a Coleman single burner stove under it. It was about $400 by the time I was done buying the pot, stand and cleaner. For an engine figure $900.

we have what we call the Titanic. you can build one. ours is like 12 foot lg with a table and work surface and it recyles the cleaning fluid. however if you are not doing this for a living why spend the money? sure you can build a cheap ass unit but why? if you want to do it build a pro unit not crap. iam sorry stuff costs money. take it to a pro. how many times are you going to use it??? if you want to know we can tell you how to build a pro unit

Theres going to be way too much money involved. Not to mention if you container isnt strong enough the heated liquid coming out could cause some serious problems. It will be cheaper to just send it to a machine shop and have them throw it in the tank for ya.

We used to use a 55 gallon drum and put a band heater on it. Did a quik search, tons of them available. Like most things the skys the limit on price. Here's one from uline:

If just getting one engine clean is your goal. Spending money and cluttering your shop with a tub of caustic cleaner might not be what you really want in the end. If cleaning large parts on a regular basis is something you will be doing. Building one is a good idea.
I end up cleaning something as large as an engine, Trans, or rear-end probably twice a year. What I do is buy a few cans of “Easy Off oven cleaner” it’s a nice caustic base that cuts sludge better than the spray can engine cleaner you can buy. Then I haul the nasty offending part to one of them coin operated car washes. I give the part a little love with a wire brush and bath it with a liberal amount of oven cleaner. Then I plug some coin in the car wash pressure washer and go to town blasting the engine. In no time the parts end up Lemony fresh and clean enough to eat off of… or clean enough to rebuild, if that’s what your into

I like that heater. I'm getting one for my tank. The propane stove I use is a little dangerous.
