Disk brake recommendations for 57 3100 stock axle
Ok, I've done the search thing and came up empty.
I want to add disks to the front (eventually to the rear too) and retain the 6 lug. Would like to hear from members who have done this, what company/brand they went with and how satisfied they are with this mod and any 'gotchas' to look out for. Thanks!

Here's where I got mine. I used the five hole setup but they have it either way.

Re: Disk brake recommendations for 57 3100 stock axle
I installed the Performace On Line kit on my 56.
Stayed with the 6 lugs, used a 1 inch bore Camaro master cylinder with the stock brake peddle, non-power brakes. At first I used the 2 psi check valve in the front line, but removed it as I thought the brakes always smelled hot. Have noticed no difference in brake effective-ness either way. Have 10k miles on the system at present. Very happy with the set-up. justplainray |

justplainray - does that POL kit clear your stock wheels? If not sure, what wheels are you running that do clear them?
Btw - it looks VERY nice. |

Re: Disk brake recommendations for 57 3100 stock axle
I got an advertising flyer through the mail yesterday from Brothers. They are having a sale and have the disk brake conversion kits at a reduced prie. Might be worth looking into. I think most of the kits will come from CPP regardless of where you purchase it.
BTW, in my first post I said I got mine from BowTieBits but I checked my spreadsheet and saw that I actually got it from Tucker's. It was a CPP kit. |
