Anyone seen these control arms yet

I have seen his s10 ones in person they are heavy and his special upper ball joint he calls a jeebus joint does out flex any ball joint i have seen.Ridetechs a arms are a grand kp links are over a grand so its not that pricey next to what is out there.

The upper would but the lower uses a different cross shaft. The stock cross shaft bolts to stock crossmember with u-bolts. The PB member uses something different.

I could be wrong, and I'm sure I am, but they look like they use a 1/2" to 3/4" plate. If you can fold those up, you're beating the crap out of them.

Please excuse my spelling error.
That was just a general value based on mild steel with a 60,000 psi tensile strength. The uppers he produces are 1/2" steel plate which is more than adequate as the upper arms are locating devices for the spindle and most all of the forces are tension and compression type forces. I believe his lowers are made out of 3/4" plate, and while I do not know the exact material he is using I would still commit to saying that they are adequate for the job. It will take a considerable amount of force to bend a 3/4" plate that is roughly 10" wide and 18" long. |

even at 60,000 psi tensile strength, 1/2" plate can be bent with as little as 10 tons under the right conditions (angle & width of bend, etc).
10 tons is really NOT a lot of force when it comes to the dynamics encountered in a suspension system with 3,500 lbs. plus riding on it. I'm not saying they aren't quality components, but if their design is truly "better" then I think the OEM's (not to mention the applications in motorsports) would have been making a-arms out of flat plate long before now due to the big decrease in costs to manufacture and shortened lead-times. No flame meant, just stating the obvious from my perspective: 1/2" flat plate with NO supporting gussets? No thanks, my safety along with my passengers and everyone else on the road is not worth the chance. |

I will disagree, but now the OP has an opinion from both sides with which to make his decision.
Flat plate arms are not a new idea and I believe have been used in the off road market for some time now. |

With regards to the offroad aspect I don't know first hand. I have seen it discussed previously. I debated about even mentioning it and probably shouldn't have.
At any rate, I stand by my opinion that these arms would be more than adequate on a day to day basis. There is always a scenario where something will fail and that can't always be predicted. I plan to run these same arms on my truck and have no concerns in doing so. |
