Sport mirror disassembly ?

How do you remove the mirror head from the arm of the 71-72 sport mirrors?

My mirror head fell off while speeding down the road, didn't stop to pick it up but I hope I can replace the head.

Sounds like a repop mirror.
They are just pressed together.
(knurled fitting on the mirror head)

Try to find some oem mirrors.
(or better yet NOS mirrors)

They will last forever.

I've had OEM mirrors go flippy-floppy on me,and that was in the '80s.But,never had one fall off. You just need to replace the whole thing. Kind of a P.I.A.

i had a nos gm mirror head fall off first i shut the door and took a chip out of paint and scratched mirror up. Made me sick
