Interior rework, need your opinions

I want to re-upholster my seat in my 68 and wanted to get some ideas from the board. I am thinking about using black / red houndstooth like the stock style with black sun visors and keep the gray carpet and black dash pad. Will the red houndstooth clash with the red paint if it doesnt match exactly?

What are your thoughts on the the seat idea and any other ideas.

I also want to replace my seat foam, I see at LMC where the bottom foam is the same for 68-72 but the back depends on the year. I know the seat I have is not the same seat that came with the truck. How do I tell what year the seat is and if I can order the foam back for it.

Thanks for any thoughts/ideas

Thanks biggestjohn, at first I didn't realize it was my truck with a different seat. Great photoshop work. I like the look.

Re: Interior rework, need your opinions

Your welcome.

It balances out really well, but I don't know about that gray carpet.

I bought mine at Kennys trucks. Cost me $235 + $20.00 shipping. I can't comment on the fit yet.( still sitting in the box) You have to call or e-mail to order.

Re: Interior rework, need your opinions

Anyone know how to determine which seat I have and which replacement foam I need?

Re: Interior rework, need your opinions

I think the seat backs all use the same foam. But some trucks had a comfort foam seat. The foam on the seat is much thicker on the comfort foam seat. I bought new foam and seat covers for a bench seat I was redoing and when I took the covers off the bottom seat had pretty thin foam and the foam I had was very thick. I had to search out a new lower bench. The thick foam I had didnt work with the bench.

This was a while back so if Im off on this Im sure I will be corrected =)

When you decide on what you want, go to an upholstery shop with a pic, and let them do their thing.

Re: Interior rework, need your opinions

I talked to a an upholstery shop, he said it would be best for me to order the foam because he would mark up the foam 30%. I looked on LMC website and a few others and it seems that the foam back was a little different for the different years. So I am not sure Which one to order.

Re: Interior rework, need your opinions

The last time that I looked, seat foam was rather salty. Might be cheaper to just get a different bench that has good foam.

Re: Interior rework, need your opinions

If you PM PICKMUP he knows all there is to know about our seats and the foam. He can answer your question.
