my first rear swap ?

I have a 78 blazer with c notch and AOL bag setup and I,m switching over to a ford 9 in..Anyone have any tips before I remove old rear. The only thing I can think of is to measure from top of axle to the frame so when I put in new one I know where ride height is to get my pinion angle at ride height, then measure the distance from spring pad to the other on old rear for new rear which is about a in. shorter.

Re: my first rear swap ?

My biggest concern would be to get the axle centered in the frame. There's a few different ways to do it, but the easiest would probably be just setting 9" on the new perches with the leafs installed and then measuring from hub to frame to make sure it's centered. If you're pinion angle is good as it is now, just get the angle it's at with the wheels off the ground, and weld the 9" at the same angle.

I don't think you'll need to worry about ride height because it should be pretty much the same it is now.
