Re: please 4 speed bagged

I've heard the 3/4 length chevelle headers offer more ground clearance for lowered trucks.

Re: please 4 speed bagged

Sandersons work with clutch linkage? That's the question asked here. We know Sandersons and Chevelle headers give better clearance on low trucks with automatics, but what about with manuals? I'd like to know, too. I know one thing, those full length headers hang down like none I've ever had before. I've never built a truck to lay frame (never plan to,either),but I've never had a problem with full length header clearance because there's plenty more that hangs lower. Even on my 4wd the lowest point of the collector flange (Headman Elites) sits flush or slightly above the bottom of the frame rail. I wonder why yours hang so low? Yours hang a good 4" lower than mine. Yours are Elites, too, right?

My truck uses a Turbo -400 so I do not know if the headers clear the linkage or not. The Sandersons drop their tubes at cyl # 5 on the drivers side leaving about 5 in between the #7 cyl tube and the firewall.

Underneath the flanges are just about even with the flexplate AND they are high...between the frame rails, not below....so my guess is if they interfere it will be at the fork end. A quick call to Sanderson will answer this...they were really helpful in helping me select the correct headers for my '67. Hope that helps!

Re: please 4 speed bagged

I was referring to your headers hanging low,not Fitz's. This thread is about headers that will fit a 67-72 truck with small block and 4spd,right? Your headers hang a good 4" lower than mine and it looks like yours are Headman Elites, the same as mine. I can't imagine what application would drop even lower than a truck, but I don't think you have the right ones for your truck. Last time I checked Sanderson didn't make a header to work with clutch linkage. I'd like to see them start.
