Lap belts
How do the lap belts work? With the belts on if I pull on the belt real fast it does not catch. I think it only catches when the truck comes to a real fast stop. If I pull on the lever on the bottom of the belt then the belt will catch. Is this the way the older belts worked?

They work the same as newer ones (to my knowledge). Just click and drive.
Providing they are mechanically sound. If mice moved in around '82 or PO "fixed" with a hammer, all bets are off.

Sounds like it has an "intertial" feature, meaning there is a small pendulum that swings and locks the belt during a high deceleration maneuver.
Otherwise, it should pull out smoothly without locking. K
