Another Edelbrock Thread
Ok, so about 2 weeks ago, I installed a new E-Performer 750 onto my 355. Been running really good until lately. The motor runs fine when cruising, but idle sucks. I'll sit there ata light and the rpms start at 1K and drop and dro and drop until the motor dies.
I have tried adjusting the idle mixture screws, but I never got any change in rpm, so I left it alone. Also, the choke kills the motor. Instead of raising rpms, it severly drops and dies. I have noticed the exhaust has been smelling rich. Will the idle mixture screws fix that or do I need to drop in leaner needles? Thanks

Those idle mixture screws control mixture at idle obviously. There's a procedure for adjusting them in the book that comes with the carb. I'd try running through that first and see what happens. Sounds like the choke needs adjustment too.

Re: Another Edelbrock Thread
Uggggghhhh --- i feel your pain (but don't have any real answer for you) --- yesterday, i was out for a cruise in my Edelbrock carb equipped vehicle and it vapor locked --- a phenomenon it does with some regularity on warm days when it has been idling (like cruising through a downtown area with lots of stop lights)
I am going to try a phenolic carb spacer as soon as i can -- my truck is a toy of sorts and not a daily driver, so i tend to put off stuff like that, but now its getting irritating. If that doesn't work, i am going to say "hello again!" to Holley

Re: Another Edelbrock Thread
I think I fixed the idle issue. I put the dizzy on full advance vacuum and the adjustments worked. It has a strong idle now.
