trans tunnel question
Im getting ready to start cutting the rusted floor pans out of panel and have seen few post on here about taller trans tunnels. Mine had very low profile tunnel so figuring when going to turbo 400 or late model trans I'll need the taller one. If you know this to correct let me know. I would like to have it on hand when cutting so I can do it all at one time and be finished with this area, Then I can continue on to rest of the body work the last guy got paid to fuk up and just bondo the heck out of. Also if you bought a tunnel or floor pans from someon that fit worth crap Id like to know who it was also.
thanks |

Re: trans tunnel question
Chris....to my understanding, the high hump tunnels are a bolt in deal, so if you need to move ahead, and leave what's there in, know you can come back and make a high hump work if you are having trouble with a tranny hitting the low hump tunnel

Re: trans tunnel question
in stock configuration, the high hump was only for 4X4, 4 speed, or big block/th400.
The 400 bolted to a small block or inline fit under the low hump just fine. |

Re: trans tunnel question
still problem truck came with 396 and now has 454 well actually 482 ci bb in it. Yea gas milage not going to be great but it has torque and not much stays in front it on highway. Stop light to stop light with rice burners is fun as hell, they can't beleive a big old truck just busted their butt's.
