voltage inverter - ??

good morning folks - quick electrical question for you.
Take a peek at the pic and I'm talkin about the added-on voltage inverter on the passenger side inner fender. The label says "Voltage Inverter" - any idear what that thing is for? This is a 55.1 I'm looking to buy. The owner says it's still an original 6V elec system.

Just curious if anyone knows what this is for/does/etc.

Invert to 12 v or to 110 to run a drill or something? No photo so it's hard to tell.

Re: voltage inverter - ??

How's it wired. Hot from the battery or fuse with regular house type plug? Or lug type (like a starter) for winch or PTO? Maybe 6v to 12v for newer winch or?? Most electrical devices are required to have input and output in volts and amps per UL standards usually molded or with permanent mounted data plate.

Re: voltage inverter - ??

Onboard inverters have been around for years , to invert the 12volt DC power in your vehicle to 110volt AC (house current) to run a drill or anything light duty . If it's bolted on a fender , it's probably not a very large inverter , but would probably run small tools . They don't usually have a very long life-span ; does it still work ?

Duh.... Sorry! Thought I posted it. I've only seen this picture - have not seen truck in person yet.

Dunno if still works, looks pretty much a paste-on wild hair wiring job, but no worries, just curious - you've jarred my memory as to what inverters are for, but I was surprised to see one on this truck based on owner's description.

I can't tell a thing by that photo but if the same guy installed it that scabbed that battery box in I'd get rid if it.
