hello i have been looking all around the internet for anything on 4x4 5 speed conversions and found nothing. So i am doing it anyway and i figured i would make a build thread to show it along the way.Thats my baby and my 700r4 took a **** so out it came and in goes a nv4500! it is also getting 3/4 ton axles with 4.10 gears it has 35's and 5 inches of lift and planning on going 9.

Nice truck. Thats about how I want the one I'm doing to set when I'm done. In the 4x4 section DirtyLarry put a NV4500 in his. Search it out.

Re: 87 Chevy 4x4 5 speed conversion
You will find that it is a matter of removing bolts and installing bolts. I did the swap on my truck a couple years ago and love it. I went from an SM465 to NV4500 so I already had the clutch pedal, but it is a very easy swap.
You will need a different transfer case, or at least change the input splines if your going to use your current tcase. The manual/ turbo 400 have a different spline count than the 700r4. |
