Heated seats

I have a 2005 Chevy 3500 with heated front bucket seats and late last year my drivers seat would heat for about 20-30 seconds and shut off. The passenger seat works fine with no problems yet. I noticed recently that my seat will stay on for a bit longer and then shut off. If I just put on the bottom heat it stays on and starts to get the seat warm and then shut off but if you put the back and bottom on they shut off as stated above. Is there any timer of some sort that needs to be replaced or is it the heater itself headed north? I have yet to unplug it and try it to see if it is something to do with the wiring getting caught in the seat assembly.

Usually when they are shutting themselves off like that the heating elements are bad. Strip the seat and replace em.

I have read on another board to check the plugs under the seat as the wiring can overheat the plug and weld it self but in the process it affects the continuity or grounds out causing the heater to shut off. It is a large orange wire check this their fix was to cut and solder the ends togeather as it is the plug itself that seems suspect not the size of the wire. Several people had this and were able to correct the issue. There were some who did not have a wiring issue and did have the seat pad element bunch up and stop working but they reported the seat got very hot for a while before it stopped working.
