Project Immoral Appearance
So over the last summer I picked up this 69 long bed for a steal. Didn't run, needed a drivers door, passenger side inner and outer fenders, and of course, both rockers. The good news is I picked all these up really cheap, though have yet to do the work. The reason it didn't run is because a single wire had rotted off, replaced it, and viola, starts and runs on its own gas(which who knows how long has been in there, gotta love the 250!). Now, for some of the bad news. I am a college student currently living 2200 miles away from my truck while I put myself through a rigorous Ivy League(Cornell University) education(truck staying at my Father's house). Good news is that I have Winter Break and Summer breaks to do some work, so though I have started this thread, updates will be few and far between. More good news is that I am a graduate of Wyotech, and worked in a street rod shop for a couple years, so I am able to do all the fab work. Before I get into the proposed modifications, I want to say that I have been looking around this site for the last couple months, and everyone is doing some fantastic work, and it is what has inspired the project name. I have seen a few people with questions about shaving drip rails, chopping tops, and other various changes. A few of the individuals on this board are very much purists, as where I enjoy cutting things up. So I spawned Immoral Appearance. She will be chopped, by laying the windshield back about 2 inches, I will pancake the hood 3/4", it will be full shaved, including all side markers, drip rails, door handles, etc. Suicide doors are a must, and I will transplant a LM7 to power her. I plan to remove the dash and replace with something else a bit sleeker, though still deciding if I want to go with an early 40's Cadillac dash, or something out of the tri five Chevy's. Decisions, Decisions... Lastly, she will be devoid of anything that could be associated with the word bling. Everything will have some type of paint on it. I will build my own faux wood bed, and paint the wheels. A custom combination of blacks, reds, and silvers(though the last will be ghosted) will flush out the paint scheme. I only have a few photos currently, will post more as I go along.

Thanks Scott! I forgot to add to it that it will sit on bags, 4-wheel disc brakes, and a set of Centerline Wilderness Smoothies, painted to match of course.

Re: Project Immoral Appearance
The build sounds great, I myself like extreme mods when done as a theme for the entire build. Like the laid back windshield & shaved drip rails, that should look awsome. Are you leaving it a longbed?
The reason I ask is I had an idea (which someday I might do) to stretch a cab 4" by changing the slope of the windshield post wheras the entire top of the cab moves back the 4" (and down 1 1/2 - 2" for a chop below the rear window) and then add 4" of length in the doors below the roofline. Then shorten the longbed to 6'-8" to keep the proportions correct. Just an idea but it goes along with your chopped roof. Good luck with school and your build. Sounds like you have the skills and experience to pull it off with much worry. Keep us posted.

Re: Project Immoral Appearance
Well scratch that, apparently the guy thought that a column from an 85 truck is the same as one from the 73..... So I just bought one off ebay instead, spent an extra $55, but I guess that's the way it goes sometimes.

Re: Project Immoral Appearance
Love the dash but would have bought the airbags somewhere else as that place of bussiness has a long line of epic failures..

Re: Project Immoral Appearance
To be honest, I have purchased from them going on almost 12 years, and never once have I received something that has gone bad or had issues. Bought some stuff for my 1999 Silverado, which I sold yesterday to fund this project

Re: Project Immoral Appearance
rockauto.com has some great deals if you play around with who you get them from to keep the number of boxes being shipped down, got some spindles from way2lo, parts are coming in everyday and I just get to sit here at school and see pictures of them for the time being.... driving me crazy!!!!!

Re: Project Immoral Appearance
Let the games begin, well actually they began a couple days ago, home for winter break, made straight a's through my first semester of my junior year at Cornell. Excited about school, and about the truck. The engine mounts from CPP are delayed through the end of January, so no engine swap while I'm here... also means no power steering this time around, just suspension and and new steering components up front... hope you enjoy the pics. So far the rear bumper has caused the most issues

and some more.... and to say I am excited is an understatement, although cleaning the frame with a wire wheel leaves a lot to be desired....
