driveshaft length

I'm trying to gather info before I go forth with this engine install this weekend,
maybe one of you guys on here might be able to tell me what length driveshaft I might need(or fitment from a later model truck)?, I have a I6 with a medium output shaft length th350 with all factory rear susp.

I would not do that if I were you, there are a few variables like which engine, which engine mounts, which holes did you use to mount the engine, which transmission crossmember, etc, wait, measure 3 times and it should end up 1.5" shorter with a 350, 700r4, mine had a 250 6 with 3 on tree....but I would wait and measure it. There really is not reason to go to a new shaft unless you are building a monster motor. Kieth Oh now I see your name bigblok.....hmm I would just go with what the driveline shop says...

no sir inline 6 no big power for now, and Im not replacing, I dont have the original...

I'm just getting my drive shaft done.IT was a bit of a challenge ,when i bought the truck there was no engine or tranny.I got a driveshaft with the truck but the yoke would fit a th350.I installed a th400 totally different bird.So the first was borrowing a yoke that would fit to see how far it would slide on the output shaft of the tranny.Then measuring from the mid point of the knuckle on the yoke to the mid point of the rear ujoint.measurement is very inportant and there has to be 3/4 play to slide the driveshaft on.IN this case the yoke has a seal or plug because originally this would have been a bolt on yoke.So in my case to shorten the driveshaft and change the yoke and rear ujoint and balance came to 215.00 cash.peace of mind and i know its down right.hope that helps.

well I am going to wait until I do a different engine change, I need to work on some patch panels in the floorboard anyway...
