Not mine...tilt on ebay...truck or van???

Here's the ebay ad Item number: 260895159753

http://www.ebay.com/itm/260895159753...#ht_500wt_1202

I saw the ad and sent a message letting him know due to the longer shaft it was a van or motor home tilt. I have one that looks identical with the correct wiring and neutral safety switch installed and it came from a van....

Here was his response....

is he mistaken.......or have I been told wrong on these columns?

I stated it also could be from a motorhome and did note that the wiring was correct... but I guess he missed that part in his response?

The motorhome tilt is almost if not the same shaft length as the trucks[as far as shaft length is concerned]. I have two motor home tilts and a van tilt. You can definatly tell the difference in the two just at a glance

Thats a motorhome tilt. You can tell by how long the center shaft is sticking out the bottom of the column. WES

Okay.....

Glad we cleared that up

All I know is I've never seen or heard of a truck with a longer shaft at the end (which would mean a shorter intermediate shaft.

Anyone?

Johnathan,
This column looks to be a van column that somone tried to converted to a truck. Van columns always had the longer shaft. Full size motorhomes tilts had the shorter truck shaft but with a dogleg bend on the shift arm at the base of the mast jacket.

Re: Not mine...tilt on ebay...truck or van???

All of the van tilts I have come across have the longer shaft, Some of the early vans 71/72 had the neutral safety switch in the same location as our trucks. Some vans in the middle 70's did not have a slot for the neutral safety switch as it was on the side of the trans. Most all motorhome tilts I have seen had the short shaft but the neutral safety switch location is the same as the van one. plus the motorhome ones usually had the "jog" on the shift lever

Re: Not mine...tilt on ebay...truck or van???

But NO trucks ever came with the longer shaft, right? (the seller is claiming it came off a 1970 truck)

He states that he bought it from someone else that claimed it came from a 70 CST; this way he removes himself from blame when the buyer realizes he just bought a tilt that will not bolt right in to his truck. This dude knows exactly what he's got and is playing dumb.

That's what I thought...

Didn't like the fact he lied in his response but before I responded to his lie...I wanted to confirm it was Second guessing myself

What's annoying is ebay doesn't have a report option for incorrect item representation....

Thanks for the picture! Hopefully this thread will be good info for people looking at these in the future so they don't pay 3-400 for a van tilt...

I also informed him that his "guy" at the swap meet was wrong and to save himself a headache and revise this item. I doubt he will but you never know.

I thought 70 was the first year for a Truck tilt? He says he's seen the longer shafts on 67-70 trucks????

Re: Not mine...tilt on ebay...truck or van???

This is the message I sent him.

'This is NOT a truck tilt column! Whatever that "guy" at the swap meet told you was wrong. It is in fact a van tilt column. You need to revise your listing to save you a headache later if someone buys this assuming that it will bolt right into their truck because it won't.'

And this is what he sent back.

'.'

Haha I guess he has bids so he doesn't care.

Yeah, as nice as it is with the correct wiring and painted, it's worth probably 150-175 shipped to someone wanting one....

Just has a lot of time left and my guess would be it'll sell for over 250 to someone who gets fooled....

Re: Not mine...tilt on ebay...truck or van???

I have both and will include pics I took today to try and clear this up. The colomns are the same TUBE length the one in high build is a van tilt that I have shaved the "humps" on the top so that I could put in in either my T-5 swap or the C-60 dually truck I am planning with a 454 t400
