Drop Spindles 68 C20 with 71 Discs

Hello,

I want to buy drop spindles for my 68 C20. I already have the 71 C20 disc front end installed. It looks like I have two sources, Airbagit.com and performanceonline.com.

Airbagit .com has 3" drop spindles for $336.68 shipped and in stock
Performanceonline has 2.5" drop spindles for $399.99 without shipping, can't tell if they are in stock. They are here in so Cal so maybe I can just pick them up.

What do you guys think from experience? Are there other sources? I have heard mixed reviews on airbagit.com but the price seems right and i like the 3" drop, I think with the 2.5 I still need a drop spring. If performanceonline is recommended then maybe worth the extra expense especially if I can pick up and avoid shipping.

I think I eventually want to go bags, for now I am going to go with the drop spindles as I will need them eventually anyway and then most likely a 5" drop coil spring in the rear as a temporary drop until I spring for bags.

Your thoughts are appreciated! I am ready to pull the trigger and get this beast closer to the ground, ha ha.

Re: Drop Spindles 68 C20 with 71 Discs

I have used POL before w/o issue & several of the products purchased seemed to be identical vs. other places which suggests they are just a 'middle-man' for many items that originate from other manufacturers. Have you found any 'mixed reviews' on POL? That might have some impact on decision making.

I have used AIM (aka Chassis tech, aka airbagit, aka etc....) spindles years ago. I did not have any issues w/them & I'm thankful because based on what I've read concerning their customer-service practices, I would have been frustrated (kind of like Stockton Wheel services) if there was an issue. I have avoided these guys because of this reputation within this industry. Now w/their recent 'product release' news, I absolutely would not use them.

In the real world, sometimes your choices are slim. If these 2 outfits are all the options you have, I would do POL even if the cost was more. Even if the parts sold by POL are merely AIM/ChassisTech/Airbagit parts being re-sold, you're still likely to get better after-sale service if there are any issues.

(It's also possible the spindles come from the same foundry & each company merely markets them.....)

I've been running the Airbagit spindles on my bagged c20 daily driver for over a year now. I've had zero issues. When I first bought them I thought one of the was machined wrong. I called them up and they sent me a new one without hesitation. Turns out my frame was bent and never noticed it at stock height.
