stupid question

Hey guys, I have what might be a dumb question but here goes anyway. I'm a 67-72 guy but have always liked the 60 -66 as well, I am currently looking into picking up a 63(thats what I was told the year was) c10 but it has "cat eyes" for lack of a better term. my question is did they make this style hood in 63? or is it an earlier year???? A little info would be greatly appreciated seeing as how cluless I am concerning the first series C10 Thanks in advance for your time

Re: stupid question

That hood would be for a 60-61. If it is a '60, it should have vertical grilles inside the "cateyes". '61 will have crosses, kind of a four pointed star.

Re: stupid question

Dont look at the hood. Front suspension in '63 is a-arm set-up. 60-62 has torsion bars; this will be the dead-give-away.

Re: stupid question

You are talking about the pods right and not a GMC hood? GMC hoods and Chevy hoods have different park lights. The GMC parking lights are called catseyes. Not as obvious as the pods from 60-61

Re: stupid question

Pop the hood, Mechanical Clutch and single line master 1963
Non torsion front suspension 63
Ladder type frame, no X in the center 63
12 Bolt diff 63
230-283 63
fawn interior if it hasn't been repainted 63
VIN # on the windshield post starts with 3C then it's a 63

Here it is the perfect year!

Re: stupid question

63 frame will have the coil spring front end. The VIN is the only sure way to tell what the cab is

Re: stupid question

Hey thanks alot for the info guys I can't wait to get my hands on this truck and start complete build on it. The body is super straight and all the glass is in good shape. but thats about all thats there. no interior (at all) and no drive train but for 400 bucks i can't go wrong!!!

I guess I'll be lurking around the 60-66 forum as well, does that make me a two timer

Is that anything like a polygamist?? if so that makes sense, my wife is always accusing me of "screwing around" on her with my truck already.

One of the many rules here.

If a registered member supplies pictures to aid you in your research, you MUST post your own pictures of said subject matter in the greatest of haste. Failure to do so will result in an unofficial ban in the 60-66 forum!

I'm just relaying the rules here!lol
