$500 to change rear end ratio??
Is $500 a good price to get some new gears installed. This is not including the gears themselves.

Re: $500 to change rear end ratio??
$500 just for labor? I would think Not more that $300 would be a fair price.

i'd say a bit on the high side aroun here the norm is 300-400 for labor to change a gearset

Re: $500 to change rear end ratio??
That's about right. I was quoted between $650 and $700 for a complete rebuild (new R and P, seals, bearings, etc.) Shop around and see what else you come up with.

Re: $500 to change rear end ratio??
It all depends on the labour rate. I think the time is about 5-6 hours. Add some gear oil and some bearings, a bit of tax, and where i live it would be $1000 easy. I am a mechanic, and $500 is what I would charge for a cash deal at home.

Re: $500 to change rear end ratio??
To make you feel better, I was quoted £1200 for a rebuild over here, about $1800.
That's labor and parts, needless to say i'll be doin it myself.

Re: $500 to change rear end ratio??
Got my rear done last Sunday for $100.00, A guy from work did them. Pretty good price I thought. So far he did front and rear in My truck and Jeep for less than $500.00. Check around someone will turn up that will do them on the cheap.

4 Wheel Parts here in Riverside is where I got one of my prices from. This includes a warranty and guarantees you it won't howl like a coyote.
