Re: ece drop spindles a little mad

I know in the past, ECE has had issues with keeping up with production of their spindles.
They are a top notch company.
If they had to substitue a different spindle for their own spindle with EARLY CLASSIC cast into them,... I'm sure you are still getting a high quality spindle.
I doubt that ECE casts their own spindles.
I bet another spindle manufacturer does them for ECE.

Give them a call.
They are great truck people.

Re: ece drop spindles a little mad

Mine are western. I got a call from ece about a half hour after ordering
online that they were out of they're spindles, and asked if western was
ok. I was fine with it as long as ece stood behind them, and they would.
I have been very happy with them.

Re: ece drop spindles a little mad

ECE spindles are cast right here in good ole Lodi, CA according to Mark at ECE. My spindles say Early Classic right on them.

Re: ece drop spindles a little mad

Sounds like a call to the company in Kentucky that you bought them from is in order
I am unsure what ECE has to do with this unless your company in Kentucky is pulling the wool over folks eyes and subbing cheap off shore items and calling them ECE parts
My ECE spindles say ECE right on them

Re: ece drop spindles a little mad

I had the same issue with ECE when I ordered my 3/5 kit for my 69. All the parts were ECE except for the spindles which were Western brand. I had an issue with the outermost part of my top a-arm on both sides coming in contact with the top of the spindle. Had to grind the very end of my a-arm so I could tighten the top ball joint to the proper torque without it digging into the top of the spindles. And oh yeah, did I mention I had everything already powdercoated!!!
I contacted ECE to tell them about my issues and they said they "didn't have any of theirs in stock at the time" but they were aware of the clearance issue. Wish I would have known that it wasn't standard procedure to do the grinding to start with.

No hard feelings to ECE. Just frustrating at the time I was doing my build. They do have great parts

Re: ece drop spindles a little mad

If they know they have a fittment issue with parts I think they have an obligation to advise customers up front so we can have a choice - anything else seems a little sneaky to me

I have been very happy with Western spindles. They are USA made and probably cast in the same foundry as ECE, CPP, McGaughys, etc.
