Spray Paint Removal From SPID
Great site, learning alot about these great trucks. You can see my problem. 1970 CST with the SPID some what painted over with black spray paint. I would like to try and remove the paint without messing up the SPID. The SPID is not covered with plastic. Any suggestions??

Re: Spray Paint Removal From SPID
1) Keep that original glove box.
2) Have ChipFlyer make a new SPID. 3) Put the new SPID on a replacement glove box door. 4) Enjoy! |

Re: Spray Paint Removal From SPID
Check out the link in Jeff's (chipflyer) signature. Do just like DANTIP says, get another door, save the old one, and put the repro SPID on the other door. Jeff's SPID's are amazingly accurate, the font is perfect. The font is not something you can simply replicate in word, it is a special font.

Re: Spray Paint Removal From SPID
My goal is to try and see what options it originally came with. I can make out some but not all. Will definitely put a new one on but need to know what to put on it.

Re: Spray Paint Removal From SPID
Would the ink from the options be visible from the back side if I removed the SPID?

Re: Spray Paint Removal From SPID
Can you make out any rpo numbers or any of the descriptions? Can't see anything from that pic, doubt you would see anything if you removed it.

One more. Yes I have been able to make out about 9-10. Kind of piecing them together based on what I can see.

Re: Spray Paint Removal From SPID
I think the truck was originally Orange. Was a LWB that got cut down to SWB. Kind of a hodge podge of things but I knew that going in. Can't really make out the RPO Codes in the left hand column. Can make out some in the right hand column but can't see much of the description. Ink is also faded really bad. Trying to piece together based on RPO Code list and what I can make out.

Re: Spray Paint Removal From SPID
Chipflyer,
I appreciate your help on this. In looking at it closer I'm seeing the following: Option # Description ??? ???????? Engine ??? ???????? Doors?? ??? Rear Step Bumper EQ ??? Custom Sport Truck ??? Black Vinyl Trim G50 HD Rear Springs M49 Turbo Hydra-matic U08 Dual Horns Z53 Ammeter, Oil Pressure, Temperature ?65 Black ???????? You could be right on the 565 color combo. I can get the Option # based on the description but I just can't see it on the SPID. |
