Does you wife or girlfriend hate your truck ?

Just wondering how many of us have to listen to them wine and complain about how much money (I have about 4500 CDN in mine) or time we put into our trucks. My girlfriend won't even come over any more when I say that I want to work on my truck for a few hours. I am getting really pissed It is a super nice day here and I wanted to work on my drivers side box side for a few hours that's all it needs to be ready for the high build primer and the final block sanding. After it was done I wanted to go down to the lake for dinner with her. But she got all pissed saying" it's Easter sunday and you want to work on your Truck"
Whatever !

Just Venting

I guess I'm lucky that I'm single, the only hurdle I have to get over is my mom...she was embarrassed that we bought my truck, she had a bad taste in her mouth from my dad's '74 International, that thing was a lemon. But since the GMC has ran like a champ, she is coming around. Now I just need to get a gf that isn't scared by a big yellow truck...

The g/f likes it...but the wife isn't too fond. J/K
My wife likes the fact that I have something that is dead reliable and cheap to maintain. Even though I would like to buy new parts, she knows that I am content with junk yard stuff and a can of spray paint. She has been very impressed with the outcome of the Longhorn, esp when she looks at $ spent.
She loved the first longhorn...always wanted to drive it, but the GMC...leaves her cold. I just hope she'll get into the one ton as much as she did the old 3/4 ton longhorn.

My wife was pissed at frist with my old truck habit. But the frist year her '94 blazer die on her 4 times in 2 months, that and my station wagon burned up. So for two weeks we shared my '72 cheyenne in the dead of the winter. From that time on NO problem with my old trucks. I was thinking getting rid of my burb this last year when my dad was sick, but between her and the kids no way. Now their just part of the family.

My wife knew what she was getting into when she married me, I have built a few trucks so it is old news to her.....specially since i bought her a 02 Tahoe...lowered it, put 20's on it and then put a kickin stereo in it for her........Hell I could get away with murder right about now.....LOL :-)

Doesn't matter girlfriend/wife..........good day or not..........you need to give equal time to them if you want to keep peace.

My wife still works, while I'm retired. I try to keep her very happy until she retires.

Then we will have a new house, and she will get a greenhouse for retirement present. That will keep her happy while I work on the truck.

I bought mine in July of last year, and to this day my fiance has done nothing more than poke her head through the window. I thought it was a girl thing, but my daughter and my mom are real "car guys." My mom's a F**d gal, but my 11 yr old girl can spot a '64 Impala from a mile away. I just hope I didn't damage my 2 yr old son when I got him a motorized VW to ride around in...

Mine knew how I was long before we got married.....I still hear her complain when I've got something torn apart in the barn and work on it till 5:00AM and go to work at 2:00Pm and then come home at midnight and work on it again........I usually do this till I'm done.........or run out of money. But the kids help!

Yep the problem was more that she had to fight to spend time with me. I was kinda a jerk about wanting to work on my truck some days when she wanted to spend time with me.
I went over there after working on my truck for a hour.
Lets just say she is kinda fustrated with me right now.

My wife's main question....Is it ever going to run/move again? She is very patient with me and doesn't complain at all about it. But she also knows, that as much as I enjoy the truck...I have my priorities straight...Kids and family....

She has bee in mine twice....to pump the brakes for me. So far she won't ride in it. She wonders why I can be proud of something that looks so terrible to those that our done. She is slowly getting broke in...I guess since my son (4yr old) has the truck/car fever too she figures she is gonna have to put up with us.

72mario,i think what your girl is saying ,is its time for the ring

i been married 13 years and my wife is the greatest, she lets me work on my cars and dosnt say too much about it. like i am doing the disk conversion now and all she does is comes out once in a while to see if i have dropped the truck on myself and to see me. but i also help her with stuff and spend time wither when she wants. we plan things in advance of 2 weeks and stick to it.
so when she wants time with me she just tells me ,or i would spend all night out in the drive.

shoot she even let me take some of the tax money to rebuild the front end and to do the conversion, well since i promised here a new tahoe or yukon

My wife is very impressed with my 67. She tells everyone about it. She wants to drive it but I haven't gotten up the nerve to let her venture out on her own yet. I will soon.....maybe. LOL She was great and very supportive while I was building it and even pitched in and got me parts and stuff. I think I have one of the greatest wives in the world. She's standing over my shoulder right now, correcting my spelling. LOL

My current girl thinks my truck is hideous. But she thinks it's kinda cool that I know so much about these trucks(thanks to this board) and she comes to me when she wants to know anything about ANYTHING, because of course I'm 16 and know everything there is to be known in the WORLD!!! She's str8 with it. She know's why I'm doing it and respects it. My ex, she was just a str8 B!TCH about it. Any time her dad and I would kinda bond about these trucks or about cars, she'd turn up the stereo or start NAGGING BAD!!! Peace to Cassie, Hello to SARA!!!

I've been married 3 years this Tuesday. When we were dating, she thought this truck thing was just a phase. Boy, was she wrong! She has been to junkyards with me, sometimes helps me tinker on them, and is getting almost as good as me at spotting them from the road. But, at times I have to hear the wining about how much time I spend with them. She does not hate my trucks, just my obsession with them (I think she's jealous!!). Don't get me wrong. I have the best wife on the board! We get along perfect (besides the occasional truck spat). Well, now that we have a new baby, old Chevys don't seem as important as they used to.

My wife doesn't give a sh!t about my stuff. We had a big falling out last Sep. Still live in the same house but its like we're strangers. Not a cool situation. After 30 years together I guess its just easier to ignore each other than divorce. I don't know why I am telling this.
