Stopping in to say Goodbye.....
Sold my 72 GMC Short bed Fleetside (RATIKLE),
yesterday. My Wife and I are packing up, to move from So Cal, back up to Nor Cal. Slower pace, not so many Car Jacking's, Killings, ect. Had to sell the 72 to facilitate the Move back North. Many Family and Friends up there, and really nobody to speak of down here, (except for "The Shop" that worked on my Truck). All in all .......not a bad deal. I got a 2011 Dodge Challenger out of it, in Toxic Orange Pearl. Thanks so much to everyone here for your help, encouragement, ideas, comments. A nicer group of guys/Gals you WONT find anywhere else. Roger "WWOTR"

I'd be happier in Northern Cali too. I have family up in Sac. We run up there quite often. Hope you get settled in for a nice holiday.

Re: Stopping in to say Goodbye.....
Hate to hear it Roger. But I understand. You may have sold the truck but you can still hang here ya know.
I used to hear of folks wanting to move out to Cali. Now all I hear is mostly of those who've left there.

Re: Stopping in to say Goodbye.....
I guess I should have added, that I wouldn't be able
to take my 72 to "The Next Level", on Retirement wages. Other factors were a Job Loss, Loosing our Health Insurance, so we needed every penny we could get. I had to do the SAME thing with my 67 C-10, back in 2005. Here's a picture of the Challenger........ Roger

Re: Stopping in to say Goodbye.....
well, maybe you can find a decent driver type truck up there just to "tinker" on if that is what you want. I know you might not see the level that you last truck was but, something to make your own if you have the "want to" hope the move goes smooth for you good luck. Jim

Not Palm Desert per say... But Cathedral City, Ranch Mirage, Indio, Desert Hot Springs, pretty much all of Riverside County and the Coachella Valley. My Wife and I come from "small towns", and the "Mindset" of a lot of people (NOT EVERYONE), down here, is that they'd rather SHOOT you, than to discuss/Debate an issue. Rape, Gang Fights, Flying Colors, and being so close to the Mexican Border doesnt help it either. Roger

I had a Hemi Orange Challenger SRT for a couple years, but I sold it to get my pickup.
Best wishes on the move.

Re: Stopping in to say Goodbye.....
Good luck with the move. I live in a small town and have all my life. Love it. When I went off to college, I lived in Columbia , SC and hated it. I can only imagine what it is like to live in a "big" city. You know it is a small town when you only have 4 stop lights and the closest Wal-Mart is 30 minutes away.

Re: Stopping in to say Goodbye.....
Good luck with your move. We lived in Vallejo for 26 years and still have family and friends there.
We really liked northern California, but when the job I worked at closed down we sold out and moved to my old family farm in southeast Missouri.

But I know what you mean - I'm originally from a small town, Gary IN. Oh, so maybe that's why I'm used to shootings... Anyhoo. I'm guessing the chevy dealer was all sold out of 2011 Camaros!? Hey, enjoy Norcal - it's beautiful up there and, yes, I agree, a nice and slower pace. Think I'm a little jealous, but then again Ridgecrest isn't exactly L.A. either, so I can't complain. It's nice where I am. But you'll be back. They all come back.... Best wishes and have a safe move. |

Re: Stopping in to say Goodbye.....
I don't know if it's actually written that you HAVE to own a truck to be on the board. North Cali is so much different than SoCal. Things actually grow up North. Very nice. About Sac on down is where it really starts to turn brown.

Just because you sold your truck, doesn't mean you can't hang out and BS on the board with us!
Oh and moving from SoCal to NorCal is like defecting to the Yankee's from the Confederate states CA style! In no time soon you are gonna start blaming all SoCal residents for your high water bills, and signing petitions to make NorCal a separate state from SoCal
