Thumbs up Struck "gold" at the pick n pull

I am finally at the point of taking my truck in for finish body and paint. I have been searching high and low for a pair of perfect wheel tubs. The wheel tubs are the only thing left on my project that require any bodywork, and finding a decent set has proved very difficult even here in Cali.

That all changed at the pick n pull I came across a 68 Longhorn with original paint. I imagine it had a camper on most it's life, judging from the condition of the bed. I literally had both wheel tubs removed in a matter of 10 minutes. I have never been able to remove bed bolts before without over tightening and snapping them off. These are the nicest original paint tubs I have ever seen, and they are the last pieces I needed before I turn my truck over to paint prison...

Re: Struck "gold" at the pick n pull

Here is the truck I managed to pull them from. I pulled these a week ago (black friday) and it still had the doors and front clip on it then...looks like someone else grabbed those during the week sometime.

Nice score. My 72 had tubs like that. All original but it too had a camper shell most of its life.

Very nice. Did you grab that rear bumper as well? Looks real clean and straight.

Re: Struck "gold" at the pick n pull

Nice! Gotta love the Pick-n-Pulls, I got a set of 71-72 truck bucket seats the day after black friday at the pnp near me, they're in pretty bad shape but have the correct brackets so I was happy.

Looks like someone is going to fix some above the windshield rust the hard way with the way they cut that cab!

We have 4 pull it yourself type lots in the K.C. area but seldom do they have any old stuff. I do find T-5 trans regularly.

Those look nice but why not just get repops? Originals that much better?

P.S. Leddzepp... stopped by your build thread. You're almost ready for paint!? You're holding out on us. More build thread posts please. I'm a few months behind you on my SWB conversion.
