Spid question

I found a 71 short fleet that the owner/seller bought off the original ownr 38 years ago. In talking to the seller/owner he said the truck has a crate 350 which he put it 7 or 8 years ago. He sent me pic of the spid ( attached ) and it doesn't show any engine or trans (and this truck is 3 on the tree) options . I started to think that if there is no engine option then the truck started life wih a 6 cylinder. If that is the case then I gueess when the 6 croaked he must have replaced it with the 350. I will ask him to verify this the next time I talk with him but is my thinking right?

That's what I thought, too... but what do I know?

I think I'd be a little concerned about the rear leaf springs. I don't think I'd want a 2WD with leafs.

OMG! That steering wheel. If that's original it's the nicest one I've ever seen.

Oh... and yea that'd be my guess on the engine too, originally a 6. Does the VIN also indicate that in a truck?

It has a paint stripe. I like those. Don't see 'em often.

Yea, I hear ya, but that is what GMC's come with and If I got ambitious I could always change them out for trailing arms.

I believe the steering wheel is a repo.

Re: Spid question

No engine listed on the spid means it came with the base v-8. A 307ci. The CE in the Vin shows it was an V-8. If it was a six banger it would be a CS.

Re: Spid question

Here is a 6 cylinder with no engine listed. It would be a 250 ci. If it had the optional 6 cylinder it would list a 292ci. Your truck came with a base 307 or it would have listed a 350ci listed or a 402ci listed.

Thank you. So I guess the owner upgraded from a 307 to a 350, cool..
