1986 C10 Tailgate
Okay My dad has a C10 short bed. His tailgate busted and I'd like to get him one for Christmas. Where would be the best place to pick up a new handle and latch? I do not know what I'm looking for so that would be a start in the right direction.
Thank you! |

Re: 1986 C10 Tailgate
Welocome to this site!! I would think that any number of part suppliers on here would be more than happy to help you . I use and have been happy with all , LMC ,Brothers Sothen KY trucks . They are closer to you than some of the others. There is an advertisers list with weblinks to them on this site . IUt will help you find what you need close to you . Good luck , Your dad will freak when he sees those gifts. What great thoughts! Wish my kids would do that. Also spend some time with him around his old truck, that is memories that both of you can look back on fondly for a long time

What a wonderful sites! Thank you! Now I know the handle is bent and gets jammed. Could other parts besides the handle be destroyed?

I think I answered my own questions with the charts that are on the LMC website. I know the handle is dented up. But it seems like the rest is working. (You just gotta give it TLC) So I'll get the handle for now its a start.
Thank you so much for the fantastic information! |

Help him replace the handle ,then lube up the rods catches the latches with WD 40. How old are you? I have a daughter that is 19. She and my wife and I took a body shop course at the local votec. I have been in bodywork since the late 80's but they wanted to do it to help out at the shop. What fun it was

Re: 1986 C10 Tailgate
I am 23yrs old I used to help my dad out with his tiny Toyota a lot when I was little. (handing him tools/ jumping on the old rusted bed to break it off the frame) Now he has a Ford escort and there is no helping that truck.
But I had to fib about who I was getting this part for because My boyfriend has an account on this site. I did not want him finding out what I was getting him. I've gotten him a ton of parts and toys for his Accord wagon and wanted to help him fix up the truck. He actually is the one teaching me about cars and is currently putting on a TPI that was gonna go on my Camaro. Sorry guys, But thank you for all the help now I know great places to get even more parts for him! |

Re: 1986 C10 Tailgate
Treasured memories of your dad indeed. I used to love it when my kids came to "help" me and still do. Your boyfreind is a lucky man as it takes a good woman to know his needs for his rides. A lot of couples have been disovled for the lack of understanding the importance of connectins to a mans toys or womans toys for that matter. What matters is something to do in common when it is fun for both. My wife and I golf together all the time . We often hear from ladies and guys how they wish their other would do something like that with them. So, enjoy helping your dad if and when you can and help you b/f on that truck sometimes too.
