Check the switch above the brake pedal under the dash. If you disconnect it and the light goes off, the switch is probably bad or not adjusted properly.

Make sure that the E-brake pedal is all the way up. Next the brake proportionig valve has a plungerin it that senses difference in the valve . That valve has a tendency to get stuck in one position causing the lamp

Re: Brake Light stays on ???????????

THERE IS NO BRAKE LIGHT WHATSOEVER FOR EMERGENCY BRAKE

if your dash brake light is on there is a problem with your proportioning system

Oops. I didn't notice that the "light" was singular. Disregard my post above.

Also check fluid level in m.c.

Re: Brake Light stays on ???????????

Does anyone have a pic of the pin in the normal position in the proportioning valve? My light came on after bleeding my brakes and I have re-bled them. The air is all out but my brake light is staying on.

Re: Brake Light stays on ???????????

Shop manual has a procedure for bleeding that includes using a special tool to keep the proportioning valve in the correct position.

Re: Brake Light stays on ???????????

You most likely have a leak somewhere.
When you lose pressure in 1 system (front or rear) the proportioning valve
will close off that system. So you will still have a firm pedal but you will
only be using front brakes or rear breaks. I would guess its your back
brakes that are leaking, because you would notice not having front brakes.
