10-SI Delco Alternator

Installed a Voltmeter in my dash, and came to the conclusion that my Delco 10-SI alternator regulator may be bad, as it's charging a over 15 volts on fast idle, and when warmed up, it only goes down to 14.92 (measured at battery with my VOM). With the heater blower blowing on high, and the high beam headlights on, It only goes down to 14.6 volts.

Studied up what I could, and it appears it's wired okay, I have voltagage from an ignition switched source, and the sensing wire is okay.

I know the 10-SI alternators aren't too outragously priced, but I'd like to order a kit online to replace the regulator myself, but I'm at a loss
to which regulator part number I need for the two wire alternators
(3 wires counting the fat bat. wire)
I'm guessing the Alternator would be the same vintage as the engine, circa 1978. It's a 63 amp version.

Any help on the regulator would be great.

Also is there any wiring diagrams out there that show how the factory gauge clusters were originaly wired? I have a factory wiring diagram, but only shows the clusters with idiot lights.

First get a service volt meter & make sure your readings are accurate. If it is indeed charging that high & it is an internal regulator get a new one or the kit you are refering to. They are easy & fun to do yourself. The only trick is loading the brushes. The instrucktions or a manual should show you how. Mark the houseings before you disasemble it show you retain the correct clock position. While you have it apart you can detail it with some cast aluminum aresol paint.
