1982 sb/stepside budget build.

well, now that i got my truck home i decided to make a build thread.
1982 chevy c10 shortbed stepside.
Everything i do will kind of be on a budget, to an extent.
my plans are to do a 5/7 drop, baby blue/white paint, swap front clip to a 73-80 front clip, limo tint, swap in a nice 355 sbc , and swap in a 700r4 for the over drive. As well as all the small 'might as well' things.
And overall aim for a classic look.
This will end up as my daily driver.

Re: 1982 sb/stepside budget build.

heres a few pics of goodies that i had saved up,waiting for the truck!

got these 2 bucket seats out of a 2004-5 dodge intrepid for 5$! our local pick a part has 5$ and 10$ day sales, where every individual part is 5$ or 10$ on those days.pretty killer deal huh?

also got this center console from a 1970's suburban, and tried to match the paint up as much as possible, and got it all painted up black grey etc.turned out nice! 5$!

got these rear cab trim all for 5$ as well, almost flawless.except paint fade.

haha yea, the local pick a part here always has amazing stuff.and being very close friends with the owners helps! they have so many rust free 67-72's and 73-87's its a shame actually!

Re: 1982 sb/stepside budget build.

well, thought noones problly seen this, why not update it? Its been slow, but ive made progress.

I picked up a 78 or 79 entire front clip for 125$ with the external hood release for my front clip swap. The truck looks way better, to me.

I am thinking of going to the 73-74 front grille, but im not sure about that with the full trim up front.

Re: 1982 sb/stepside budget build.

I got my seats installed. I got pretty lucky on them, as they fit excellent and were soo easy to fab up and they look great! so comfy too. Accompanied by some fresh black carpet and reconditioned door sill plates.

They are buckets i pulled from a 05 or so dodge intrepid in the junkyard. What do ya think?!

Re: 1982 sb/stepside budget build.

The center console i pulled from a later suburban in the Junkyard and dissasembled it to re-do all of the paint etc on it. Do these consoles normally have carpeted insides? its not mounted as of yet, but thats in the process!
