Anyone know where the St. Louis assembly plant hid the build sheet? Thanks.

thought the decal on the glovebox door was it.. for these trucks..

Not for sure but some had it between the gas tank and cardboard cover.

There was no "official" location - the build sheets were supposed to just get thrown away, but sometimes it was easier to leave it laying where ever it was and build the truck around it.

I'd check under the seat or between the springs and cushions in the seat back. Seem to be a lot of them there, and it makes sense since usually the seats were built up in a remote area of the plant and conveyed to the main line. The build information was provided to the cushion room in order to keep the option content straight.

I'm from St. Louis but my truck is from the Fremont plant in California and I found my build sheet under the bench seat. You can see where the wires from the seat were holding it in place

I've found them:

Behind the seat - Fremont, Ca.
Between gas tank and cardboard - Lakewood, Ga.
Under driver's side carpet - Baltimore, Md.

I just got a nice original truck from the St. Louis plant and wanted to try to find the build sheet.

My truck was a St Louis built truck and I was unable to locate the build sheet. Due to still possing the original truck order form, protecto plate, and other documents, if it was there to begin with, it would have still been there.

My truck is a St. Louis truck and it had been redone in the late Eighties. I have it completely apart and no build sheet exists for it. The SPID is intact and I have run the numbers on the engine block and the casting dates, plus the dates on the seat belt labels and have determined when my truck was built based on all that information. If your engine is original to the truck, you can also date the block by the casting info on it. Check your seat belt labels, too. If they are original, there will be dates stamped on the label.

Even though your build sheet may be missing, you can still learn a lot about your truck by doing a little PI work.

My '67 Firebird build sheet was in the seat back springs for the rear seat. I still have that build sheet...but no Firebird.
