Whats involved in turning a dually into a srw?

I love the look of the 73-87 ccswb trucks. I was wondering how its done. I found a 87 cc dually longbed. I would like to know what it would take to make it a 1/2 ton shortbed cc.

14 bolt axle and new bed to make it srw

shortbed you have to cut the frame and shortnen it and get a shortbed vs a longbed

How to shorten the frame http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/lwb_to_swb.htm but you still gotta change the rear end the bed,On the front i know you need 1/2 ton spindles not sure on what else is different tho.

Swap the hangers in the rear also. Up front I bought a complete front crossmember but you can just swap arms and spindles

Will 1/2 ton suspensions fit these trucks? I would like a softer ride than most of the heavy duty trucks ive ridden in.

Yes you can swap out the whole front cross member and the rear springs and hangers from a 1/2 ton truck over to your 1 ton frame.

Best shot at success is to snatch a .5 ton donor. I have both sitting @ my house. just have not been able to bring myself to cut up my 38k mi dually and hose up two trucks. Hahaha
