Front Windshield Stainless Trim

I am having a devil of a time getting trim that will fit the windshield. I had one glass guy bend one, I had one come shipped bent, and the last two don't have the proper curve to fit the glass on the bottom. Both of the bottom pieces have too much of a bow to them and will pop out of the rubber gasket. They all came from LMC and the last one had the manufacturers name on the box, "Counterpart Automotive", part #67-79520. All help is appreciated.

Re: Front Windshield Stainless Trim

Do you have the right trim with the correct gasket? There are 2 different styles.

Re: Front Windshield Stainless Trim

The trim can be tricky. As too much stuff mentioned the trim is different. The 71-72 style lip is shorter then the older chrome and the correct seal is made to match.

My son and I have some success by installing the seal onto the glass, install the top piece first, then the two bottom pieces and last install the two corner pieces. You may have to tweak the chrome slightly but usually the chrome is the right shape. Having a good helper makes a big difference.

Good luck and be patient!

Jim

Re: Front Windshield Stainless Trim

THROW THE COUNTERPART JUNK AWAY! It is aweful at best. If you cant find original trim to suit you, try GMC Pauls and ask for Precision Brand. IT doesnt always fit great like original but it beats the heck out of the counterpart trash.
