Speedometer cable
Ok I cant figure out what cable to buy to replace the speed0 cable from behind the speedometer to the transmission. 1 the speedo is jumpy and 2 its leaking on transmission side so I figure i would replace it all together since I cant find the o rings...
Which cable do I need...I have a 78 GMC High Sierra C15 Originally with a 350 but anow a 305 auto with no cats or cruise control....All i can find is like a 38" cable which to me doesnt even remotely sound right especially since it says w/cruise and cats... |

Re: Speedometer cable
well you dont have to replace the whole cable if you dont want to, you can buy a new speedo cable housing from jegs for like 10 bucks and thats an easy install, as for the cable you can get cable inners where you just put them in the sleeve, but i feel like thats a waste if its just a little jumpy cause usually when the cables bad its really bad and noisy or split and not working at all, from what youre saying just jumpy id just get some graphite lube and make sure to cover the inner of the cable with it and go from there, if its still a problem then, then why not get a some new cable to put in the sleeve, lubes only a few bucks any how.
