67' C10 Build V8 Conversion & 700r4 trans
I am starting the build/conversion of my 67', From: a 250ci I6 engine & three speed Manual trans. To: 350ci V8, Vortec Heads, among other parts Along the way i will be upgrading and converting various systems that will be needed to make this conversion into a balanced vehicle, that could be a daily driver. I will be lowering the truck and changing to different rims/tires. Here are a few pictures As it looked Last week

Here are some Before pictures also, But with the Shell Off, these were taken today, she is in the shop, waiting for part's that were ordered Yesterday to start trickling in. Sorry But these pictures are at night, under shop light's and a roll up door was blocking some of the lights so they may be Dark in certain ares of the picture I still have not washed this truck in over 2 Years. I did not think that the shell weighed that much, but i drove the truck with the shell off and it seemed much lighter, and it moved better. Cant wait to double my H.P. & torque

Looks like you have a great project going. I really like those valve covers. Keep us posted on your progress and remember lots of pics.
What kind of bender is that next to your compressor? Do you use it for much? I have a Hossfeld Bender that is collecting dust - wish I could utilize it more. |

That bender is really nice, I have only played with it, i also bought a tube notcher at the same time.
I am going to build Two Hot rod frame's, after the truck Build. I also have a 29' T-bucket, steel body & the 58' Vette. The Hot rods I am going to build, First one will have a very short frame, with a Chevy 250 h.p. 4.3L v6, Radiator in the rear, I have a 72' Complete Corvette IRS. Key is Short and Light. Narrowed Corvette rear and front suspension. Weight Goal on this is 1500-lbs or less, frame tubes will also be doing double duty as the cooling tube for the rear Radiator Both will be open Hot Rods Other hot rod is same concept short and light using a two wheels in front probably either 195-205, and one 275 single rear tire shaft drive, 130 -140h.p. 6 speed trans about 1100lbs, power to weight ratio should be excellent. throttle steer/drift should be easily done If i have time i may take a picture of that engine trans setup. If i can remember to i will get a few pics of under the hood for the before pictures

Took some more,
Before pics, of Engine Compartment. (Engine room we need more power captain, BS you better start pedaling there aint no moe). Stock I6 250ci 140-155h.p. Head was rebuilt two years ago. Engine runs really good, and has decent power now that that heavy Shell is off her back, stops better too.

I debating on whether to leave the engine painted Silver,
or paint the engine Chevy Engine Red-Orange. I wanted it to be a little different, but there is something about those red-orange engines that make my blood boil.

Here are a few engine pics of the 130-140 h.p. & 130 lbs /ft or torque. power to weight ratio is less than 8 lbs per H.P. Low seat, light weight, narrow, and short.
You dont get a sense of the size of the engine fuel injected, 1800cc, 109c.i. 4.4" bore/Piston (bigger pistons than a 454ci), 5 Speed manual Trans. they claim, it is the largest bore of any Gasoline production Car or motorcycle. It is a very torquey engine with a 7,500 rpm, red line. 4 large valves per cylinder. This engine actually has Two oil pumps. All in a light weight package. I bought the crashed bike at auction bike was only a few months old less than 1,800 miles on it.

sorry for steering off coarse, a couple goldwing converted to Naked bikes, gone are the saddle bags and trunk and Fairing/winshield they are also very short and about 400lbs lighter.
The trike has a Narrowed, 2006 mustang GT 8.8" rear end, w/disc brakes 3.08 gears posi., That is driveable but need to build the body and finish some of the electrical routing, horns lights, after the body build. That trike is also a 1800 cc but it is a 6 cylinder and about 115h.p. with 110 lbs ft of torque, twin carbs. Those are just the project in the shop, I also have a low mile, 2006 Toyota 4runner V6 complete drive train, engine,trans rear end drive shaft, and complete electrical, as another project Ok no more talk about other projects. back to trucks

Hey thanks for the comps, but i have not washed that truck in 2 years,
So, it's not that clean, but yeah, i think it will make a nice one. That truck was owned by a little old guy, and that truck was his pride and joy. He really took very good care of it, Garaged always, he was the original owner. He died and i bought it from his brother, that was selling his stuff. It had 112,000 original miles when i bought it. It was converted to a internal volt reg. alternator, Looks like the radiator was replaced with a 4 row that has a Trans cooler in it, even though truck is a manual trans.

Thats a nice looking wheel, looks similar to mine. those will looks great on your truck. So is this going to get the short bed treatment ? air bagged ? I like the silver painted engine, never seen one painted silver before, looks clean.

Well after 2- years i finally wash the darn truck, I didn't get any pics as it was dark and cloudy out, But color is more vibrant and shiny than it was.
It cleaned up very nice and looks much better. I have been cleaning my shop getting the last few projects cleared out of the way. I received a UPS Label confirmation that My parts are shipping tomorrow. I should have them by Monday. I am going to start taking the 67' apart tomorrow. The short term Plan; Pull front end Sheet metal off fenders, inner fenders, Hood, Cowl Cover, Radiator Mount, By Sunday Get Old Engine and Trans Pulled out of vehicle by Tuesday. Remove Front Suspension, Clean & ready for primer/paint, by Sunday. End week one; Wire brush Frame from Front to Firewall, and ready for Primer/paint by Wednesday

I think i may leave it as a Long bed.
No air Bags I will do a 3.5x5" drop Front Disks Front 1-1/4" Sway bar Power brakes Power Steering Rebuild Front Suspension Rebuild Rear suspension Weld strap/plates on Rear Trailing arms among other things I have a lot of parts coming. I will be using it as a truck, and i would like to have the 8 ft bed. I do like the look of the longer bed. But anything can happen during a build, we will have to wait and see.

I have the front radiator cowl loose and waiting to get the fenders loosened up.
But i cannot get the windshield wipers off the firewall cover below the windshield wiper is loose and ready but i cannot get the windshield wipers off Crap!! Help! anyone know these come off?

I was able to find a thread on how the windshield wipers are removed.
But they were a real pain in the Bleep!! PO had painted the splined nut and then put on the windshield wiper so they were glued on with the paint. I got them wipers off and removed the top firewall cover & the front Fenders too. I did what i wanted too + some. Not Bad for the first day. I would like to get the engine & trans pulled next, maybe I'll have them out by Sunday

Second Day,
Motor mounts are loose, and I disconnected all life support from the old engine. All wiring is tagged and out of the way. here are a few pics Looks like I may have to rent a pickle fork to get the steering components apart.
