Re: WTD: 1967 Ram assist power steering

I have a set up from a 67 C20 that has the linkage, brackets and I think the gear box but does not have the pump or hoses. I should be able to get pictures tonight. This was not removed from a running driving truck. It was removed from a rolling chassis I bought and I am not sure of the true condition of the parts-- looseness, leaks ect. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks

Re: WTD: 1967 Ram assist power steering

Here are some pictures. I did not get home as early as I was hoping so the light was getting dim. I have not had time to check shipping yet. I will find a box and see what I can do as soon as I can. Thanks

Re: WTD: 1967 Ram assist power steering

Do you want hydro assist cylinder setup for 4 x 4 front axle ? Or this stock shock setup ? I have the assist cylinder setup, it works off the power steering box pressure and is not gm.

Re: WTD: 1967 Ram assist power steering

If you want all what I have pictured, I was thinking $50.00 plus shipping. I checked the shipping and it is looking like $36.00 for Parcel Post. So how about $80.00 total for parts and shipping. If you just want part of it, I can disassemble and ship parts for less. Let me know. Thanks

Both 2wd and 4wd Ram Assists were available directly from GM however the 4x4's are even more scarce.

What is a stock shock setup? The one Todd posted is A GM ram assist 2wd unit.
Just trying to help prevent confusion and learn about another setup if there is and aftermarket one.

This set up is off of a C20 (3/4 ton 2wd) and I am not 100% sure if it is the same as a C10 (1/2 ton 2wd) .

Hopefully some one can answer the question:

"Is the 1/2 ton 2wd and 3/4 ton 2wd the same or is there some parts that are different-- tie rods? steering box? ect.?"

Thanks for any information you can give.

MadnessBigBlock: I do not know how big of a hurry you are in but I have been talking to a guy about a 67 C10 with power steering that is supposed to run. If I can get that truck I should know if the system functions, leaks, ect. It may be at least a couple weeks before I know anything on it though.

Re: WTD: 1967 Ram assist power steering

the only difference is the holes where the tie rods bolt onto the drag link. 20 series trucks have larger holes but i believe if you use series 20 tierods on the inners that would work. not sure if the threads from tierods to adjustment sleves are the same from 10's to 20's. some one selse might know that.

Todd68chevy: When you get the 67 c10 let me know the operating condition of the ram assist I may take both for the right price and condition of course. I am looking for 5 ram assist set ups for my 67 collection!

I have a 2wd ram assist setup I'd sell reasonably if you would pick up in Grand forks.

I looked in my Moog catalog and it states the tie rod ends are the same part number for 67-68 c10 and c20. It also states the tie rods are different from 69-70 and the 69-70 are different between the c10 and c20. Like I said before I should be able to check and measure anything you want me to, just let me know. Thanks, Todd

I found out that the guy advertised the truck wrong and it is a 68 with a 67 bed on it instead of a 67 with 68 front fenders. So it does not have this style of steering on it. Sorry. Good luck with your search.

Some 68's had ram assists, I think Locdoc had one or knew of one.
