Hello,
This is my first post. I’ve acquired a 1972 C10. In addition to reading this great site, I’d like to buy some manuals for general information and for the inevitable problems that will pop up in the future. I came across the following manuals for sale on one of the big supplier websites and am trying to decide how to prioritize them in order of helpfulness. For example, is the Factory Assembly Manual of much use? Can anyone offer some guidance on which ones I should buy first or suggest any other manuals or sources for manuals?

chassis service manual is very good and it has the wiring diagram inside it
assembly manual is also very good for details such as vaccume routings and correct placement of everything// it is a bit difficult to use as it has no index and finding things can b trying at times but it is in there

most vendors that subscribe to the board have them available at good prices/cheap for the info they contain

First...Welcome from Central Florida! This site is much better than a manual.

The assy manual shows you how these were built, very handy to have.
Service manual shows how they were maintained, also very handy.
Haynes has some good info on disassembly.

I would recommend getting as much as you need depending on where you are going with your truck, I started with the assy manual.

We would also like to see pictures of your stuff (we're crazy like that).

I have the factory manual on CD. It's nice because it's searchable and I can print out the pages I need, use them in the garage and toss them when I'm done. No greasy manuals!

Thanks for the feedback, I'm on the fence between a CD-ROM and a hard copy. I'm leaning toward the latter because I just like flipping pages, even stained ones. Is the Chevrolet Truck Service Manual still available in hard copy new, or is used the only option for a hard copy?

I've only seen them used.I have all but the 69 manual listed above.I have several others that are sometimes helpful but ,that may be because one of my other hobbies is collecting tech lit.BB vendors will have probably the best prices on most,but another source is www.motorbooks.com
They carry a lot of manuals for almost any vehicle.
You may also want lit on Big Block or Small Block depending on which powers your truck.

Welcome to the board. You have a great looking truck. The service manual and the factory assembly manual have always worked for me. I've had them from 1963 on up to 72. Now that I've added this sight to my bag of tricks, I think I can repair anything on these trucks.

Hopefully the Assembly Manual Index project will take care of that now. I wrapped it mostly up about 4 days ago. If you start numbering pages from the Introduction = 1 to the end, mine had 1064 pages. Just number 1 side & it will only take a few hours. Use the Assembly Manual Index in Google docs for reference or copy the whole thing to a personal spreadsheet on your machine. Then you can use the search function of the spreadsheet to locate stuff easier. Hope this helps everyone.
