Colorbond from LMC

Anyone have any experience with Colorbond from LMC? It's supposed to Stain, not paint interior vinyl. Thinking about trying it on my door panels so they match my new black carpet.

No input from past experiences here, but I'm very interested in this as well... It seems like LMC also offers a cleaner and clear from of the same brand for this interior staining or dying process...

I used it on my dash pad, kick panels, and seatbelt covers. I used black and the shade is perfect, but you have to be careful when spraying because the overspray will leave a texture like a flat color will.

I bought 3 cans when changing my white 4 door headliner trim to blue. My upholster called and said he didn't have enough that it took alot to cover the white. He then went and got SEM and redid what he had colored with the colorbond and didn't get colored at all. He said the SEM covered better.

I am using the SEM as well right now and love the coverage...still needs 2-3 coats and I am only changing from white and saddle interior to the Light Oak SEM Color Coat...

New dash all painted and assembled with NOS dash trim and A/C ducts.


Color is off because of the fluorescent lighting, but this is the A-Pillar and it used to be dingy white.


Newly SEM'd dash on bottom, old stock dash on top.

BTW, no matter what anyone tells you, these coating are not some crazy different formula and they are not stains. These are simply a high adhesion special formula of paint. They are non-catalyed so they will scratch and seperate/flake with abuse. They are not a permanent bonded coating as both of them claim.

I used them on my crew cab they seemed to work good. I washed all my interior with warm soapy water let it dry then wiped it down with the cleaner and then sprayed it I painted all of the trim (no headliner) except for the front door panels and it took a little over a can went from white and faded to all saddle. Here is a before and after of the trim

I used the SEM as well on my A pillar moldings and dash pad. VERY happy with the way it layed on and turned out overall. I would recommend using the Plastic and Leather prep they offer as well prior to applying the color coat...
