Re: 72 c20 rearend ?
dana 60 or eaton. eaton has a round diff cover, dana 60 has a more square shaped diff cover.

Re: 72 c20 rearend ?
My 71 c20 has a dana 60 with leaf springs, but i have also seen them with coil springs. The strangest thing was my original carrier and spider gears were shot and i thought i would never find a good used carrier for it, but i bought a NEW dana 60 complete carrier for a 99 dodge 2500. It fit like a glove. I just bolted my ring gear on, 3-4 blows from a soft heavy mallet, and it was in. I got lucky and the gears meshed perfectly. Whats even more unique is that the carrier came with a rear speed sensor ring pressed on lol.

Re: 72 c20 rearend ?
NEW dana 60 complete carrier for a 99 dodge 2500.
Would a person be able to change gear ratio by finding one of these later model rear end carriers ? I have a 72 C20 with 4:10 gears and would like to go with a mid three ratio.Or can the ratio be changed with just a gear change ? Aren't the carriers different from a 4 ratio to a 3 ratio ? This is an area that I don't know a lot about so I appreciate any and all information I can get !!! Thank You . Have a great day !! Tom |
