Homebrew Carb Cleaner?

A few months back I recall seeing a thread on homebrewed carb cleaners. Has anybody here used one that works? What is the best stuff to use, short of the commercially made ones? I posted on the "engine & drivetrain" forum with no response - I'm sure someone here has the answer!
