dogdish cap question

I picked me up a pretty nice set of dogdish caps and gonna put them on my 70 soon , im gonna have to turn two of them into 4x4 ones can someone tell me the exact size the hole is on a stock 4x4 one , im gonna take them to a machine shop to have them cut out so i dont mess them up or end up looking like a beaver had a hold of them.

Re: dogdish cap question

The caps for the front hubs are actually made a little differently. They are molded around that hub for a finished look.

I'm not sure you could cut a hole in a non 4x4 cap and make it look right. But in any event I'd still like to see the end result. Aren't those chevy emblems supposed to be blue also in these years??

Pics of a open cap , I can take better one's. You can find the 1/2 ton open caps and you could keep the other closed cap for later . Many just repaint the yellow to Blue.

Re: dogdish cap question

yeah i would rather find a couple 4x4 ones and i know it wouldnt be the factory finished look but i think it wil be okay and look fine as long as i have someone cut it out on a machine so it dont bend the edge or get a chewed up look around the new hole and yes i think 69-72 would have a blue bow tie but my blazer is gold and i had done planed on if i found some blue one i was probably gonna paint them gold anyways (just my personal prefrence) just wondered what the actual hole size was cause the hole on a stock one looks like it stops maybe a 1/4 os less from where the lip on the hubcap starts
